Bromsgrove upgrade completion

Timelapse footage has captured VolkerRail, in partnership with Network Rail and Siemens Rail Automation, completing work as part of the £100m upgrade in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

As part of this upgrade project, VolkerRail successfully removed and constructed new track and points, on the approach to the new Bromsgrove Station, bringing into use a new platform.

After a successful 12-day blockade, the railway lines; running through Bromsgrove, were reopened on Monday 7 November.

The works, completed ahead of schedule, will help towards increasing the number of trains serving Bromsgrove station from December 2017.

Network Rail’s route delivery director - LNW enhancements, Nathan Campsall, said: “A blockade such as this takes much detailed planning and co-ordination of interfaces to ensure successful delivery.  This was evident in abundance throughout the preparation and execution of the works.

“This was a truly collaborative effort throughout, with all partners working to achieve joint objectives, supporting each other to do so.  I consider this blockade to have raised the bar in our delivery reputation and is an exemplary model that we should rightly share with others and use as our benchmark in the future.”

This project forms part of Network Rail’s Panel Framework. This five-year framework, awarded in October 2014, sees VolkerRail completing enhancements and renewals to the London North Western routes.
