Main line railway and branch lines
With over 70 years of heavy rail experience, we have a successful track record of delivering a vast range of projects, ranging from small specialist contracts to major multidisciplinary turnkey projects in joint venture or alliance, in excess of £1bn.
We maintain, renew and enhance railway infrastructure and systems, and have advanced specialist capabilities in track, signalling, electrification, power, telecoms and piling. We also supply a range of specialist rail plant and equipment, including rail mounted cranes, tampers and RRV’s.
Mass transit and urban light rail systems
Over the last 20 years, we have been involved in annual maintenance and renewals to turnkey projects, which have transformed cities.
We are recognised as a market leader by clients and suppliers alike, and have extensive experience on all of the UK's light rail and tram networks, working on varying track forms including embedded rail, full depth shoulder, shallow depth shoulder in bituminous road type, direct fix and ballast track forms. Our rail plant is also tailored to the requirements of urban rail infrastructure.
Depots
Whether delivering stand-alone track configuration works through to complete turnkey projects, we have a wealth of experience in the construction of new depots, and relocating or upgrading existing train facilities.
Working alongside our sister company VolkerFitzpatrick, we have helped transform and create some of the UK's largest, and most prestigious rail depots. We also understand that operational depots cannot close during construction works, so we also work with our clients to install modifications that have little or no impact on a depot’s daily activities.
Private / industrial railways
Private sidings are an important part of goods and material transportation across the UK.
We work directly with owners to provide 24/7 support and maintenance to ensure goods and materials can be delivered to and from ports and private manufacturing sites, and provide regular inspections to help identify any high priority works and alleviate potential track defects.
We also work to maintain heritage railways, with our rail plant regularly engaged in track realignment and small installation projects.
