Celebrating success at the International Safety Awards

Three VolkerWessels UK businesses are celebrating this year, after receiving International Safety Awards from the British Safety Council.

Now in their 61st year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world, which have demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges, their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year.

This year VolkerRail has achieved their fifth consecutive International Safety Award with Distinction and VolkerHighways has been awarded an International Safety Award with Merit. In addition, VolkerFitzpatrick achieved a Pass, for the Felixstowe Branch Capacity project. All three awards reflect the businesses’ commitment to health, safety and wellbeing during 2018.

Adrian Shah-Cundy, corporate responsibility director for VolkerWessels UK said: “It is fantastic to once again receive this recognition of our commitment to safety across VolkerWessels UK. The safety and wellbeing of everyone working on our behalf is of paramount importance to us and these awards reflect our commitment and the significant achievements of the past year.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “The British Safety Council commends VolkerRail, VolkerHighways and VolkerFitzpatrick on their achievements. The awards are in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Friday 5 April at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.
