High recognition from Hartlepool College for Chris Bell

Hartlepool College - one of several colleges providing VolkerRail employees with professional qualifications - held its annual award ceremony earlier this year, which was attended by many of its 1,500 students.

Chris, who has completed a HNC in electrical electronic engineering with distinction - received the award due to his hard work and tenacity, and for being a positive role model to other students.

Reflecting on his achievement, Chris said: “I was overjoyed to receive this award, and for successfully passing my course. I have been out of the classroom for a significant time, so it was an adjustment, but thankfully I had a lot of support from VolkerRail and my college lecturers, which made the journey much smoother, so thank you to all.”

Commenting on the award win, Eddie Hanson, head of operations for VolkerRail’s power division, said: “We are extremely proud of Chris, not just for being recognised for this award, but for being a great role model and mentor to our current apprentices, and showing the endless learning possibilities available, no matter your experience or time within the industry.

“VolkerRail takes pride in nurturing its employee’s potential, and Chris is a shining example of how people can develop with the right support, and the right positive attitude towards learning. A fantastic result.”
