VolkerRail to join other contractors at Scotland’s Railway SME networking event
VolkerRail is joining Network Rail and other key suppliers at a networking event for SMEs keen to learn more about work available across Scotland’s Railway over the next five years.
The event will be held at The Studio, on Glasgow’s Hope Street, on Wednesday 13 November, and is open to any company interested in increasing their presence in the rail sector.
Taking place over two separate sessions, attendees will hear about the opportunities available regarding over £1bn of investment in Scotland’s Railway between now and 2029.
Alongside Network Rail, VolkerRail will be joined by QTS, Rail Systems Alliance Scotland, Taziker, Story, AMCO, SPL Powerlines and Siemens; all ready to discuss their work and take questions.
Stuart Lee, head of procurement for Network Rail Scotland, said: “We are very pleased to be able to work alongside our main contractors to help smaller companies interested in rail find out more about the opportunities coming up in Scotland over the next five years.
“The event will be a great chance to meet key contacts across Scotland’s Railway. We want to help make it easier for new companies to enter the rail sector and we hope to use these sessions to broaden our engagement and better understand what SMEs need from us too.”
VolkerRail is the main contractor on Scotland’s Railway Signalling, Power and Communications Framework. This five year framework covers the delivery of renewals and enhancements for signalling, power and distribution, level crossings and telecoms across Scotland, throughout Control Period 7.
Barry Kennedy, VolkerRail’s business development manager, commented: “VolkerRail is keen to explore new relationships with SMEs across Scotland. This event is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and hear more from Network Rail and the Tier 1 framework contractors about CP7. We look forward to engaging with all attendees.”
Each of the sessions will last three hours. The first session will start at 9am, concluding at noon. The second from 1pm, concluding at 4pm. Each event includes an introduction from Network Rail along with partner presentations, a Q&A session and breakout supplier sessions.
