VolkerRail opens new office in Scotland

To support its projects based in Scotland and the North of England, VolkerRail has expanded its collaboration with infrastructure services provider, SWGR, by opening a new office in its Glasgow delivery centre.

Having worked with VolkerRail for over a decade, SWGR has built a strong reputation for providing high-calibre skilled labour and training.

The new office is ideally located, allowing VolkerRail to strengthen its relationship with SWGR, and utilise its training centre and facilities, whilst also providing a hub in Scotland to facilitate collaboration with local clients.

VolkerRail has also appointed Barry Kennedy as business development manager – Scotland. Barry worked with VolkerRail previously, holding various leadership roles between 2011 and 2016, and has a strong track record in business management, at both a strategic and project delivery level.

In the coming months, VolkerRail intends to recruit a locally based team to work with Barry in Scotland, and support the company’s development strategy as it increases its operations.

Stuart Birch, VolkerRail major projects director, said: “As we continue to deliver rail projects that help bring communities together, we must also ensure our employees feel close to the business and have access to regional hubs - regardless of location, as it is our employees that have made us the successful business we are today.

“SWGR has been an exceptional supplier to VolkerRail, and this collaborative relationship will not only strengthen our offering, but will also benefit our teams, as they continue to support rail growth in Scotland and the North of England.”
